Scare tactic collection agency using illegal tactics ..

this number called and said they were the bureau of investigations- (which is false)

they said I had 2 felony charges for unpaid payday loan ( which was paid over a year ago) and they wanted to give the opportunity to pay it over the phone to avoid felony charges.

I just got the same phone call.... is it true?  do I have Felony Charges?  Or is it a lie?  They would not even take payment arrangements?

It's a scam - debts are a civil matter, and you do not get arrested for being in debt.  Also, any time you get a call like this, know that they MUST send you in writing (NOT email or via fax) a debt validation letter stating original owner of debt, how much the debt was for.  There are too many scammers out there who will try to get people to send them money!
