You are wrong.

The Do Not Call registry stops thousands of law-abiding businesses from calling you. You just can't *count* calls you *don't* get.

Expecting the Do Not Call law to stop criminals from calling is like expecting a "No Trespassing" sign to prevent burglaries.

Many telemarketing and scam calls originate form overseas, beyond the jurisdiction of U.S. laws.

And finally, one benefit of the Do Not Call Registry, even when it's violated, is that you no longer need to wonder if the call you get is legitimate: If they're calling, they're criminal.

I receive these calls, push the button and tell people that the number they called is a shared work number, and I could get fired for talking to them.  But I do want a lower rate so I give them my "home number" and tell them I'll be there at 6:00 tonight.  I verify that they removed my cell number and replaced it with my home number on the account, and they say yes.  What they don't know is that my "home" number is actually a fax number at work.  And I never hear from them again.

this number is an unwanted solicitor, and they won't give me a chance to say take my number off their list, they hang up immediately and I continue to receive calls weekly

I tried to be nice, pushed #1 and talk to the people to explain to them that they were calling a cell phone. Twice they hang up on me after hearing what I was going to say. Ok. Next 3 times they called after hearing the "hello" I screamed 'F U!!!!" as loud as I could and the calls stopped. Not nice, but they didn't let me another option.
