said that a friend reffered them to me, offered free home security. left no company name or information

Same as blank. It was an automated call selling a home security system. The recording said it was "not a sales call" and that I'd been "referred by a friend or neighbor." Considering that I rent an apartment, that seems quite doubtful.

I feel like this may have been ADT home security company.  I received this call 3 hours after I saw an ADT van driving up and down the street a few times, pulling & out of people's driveways.  Coincidence?  I think not!  I feel the purpose of the van was just a marketing scheme.  The question is how they got my number.

They called me a couple minutes after they called Melissa, I guess they got both of our numbers somehow, but since we live together it isn't that surprising. It's an automated called saying a friend/neighbor referred me to get a home security system, but they didn't even give a company name.

Yup.... Home Security system telemarketer. My number is not listed so they must do some auto number rotation thing.
