I received a call from a Michael Reed who said that he was with account services. He told me that I may qualify for a lower interest rate on all of my credit cards as long as they weren't already at a lower balance transfer rate. I asked him many questions and somehow I ended up giving him my credit card number, address, and the last 4 digits of my social security number. He called my credit card company and let me know the current balance, next payment due, etc. and then said that all that he needed was the last three numbers on the back of my credit card. Then I really started asking questions and he put me on the phone with his "supervisor who was going to explain everything" and she said that she couldn't let me know any more information until she was sure that it was me and to give her the three digit code. The more questions that I asked, the angrier she seemed to get. She gave me a website address to look up and it was only to verify if a company is in business or not and says nothing about what the company does. When I told her that, she started talking to someone on her end of the phone about me! I told her that I was going to have to ask my husband and she said that she would call me back in half an hour. I never heard back from her. The number on the caller ID was disconnected and the 1-800 # that was given to me was to a visa card company who said that I wasn't the first customer to call in with a story like that and that they were investigating it but that it definately had nothing to do with them!
