I just received a call from this number on my iPhone. The only description was its location, from Daytona Beach, FL. I never answer calls that are not in my contacts list. Why have such calls been increasing over the past ~2 years? At home I have a Panasonic 2-Line system that allows me to block calls, and most mobile phones have this ability as well. On my iPhone, I created a contact, "Blocked", and I add numbers to the contact with a custom description of the caller (In this instance, "Daytona Beach Credit Card Scam"). I have also placed my landlines and mobile lines on "Do Not Call" lists, however it seems some companies are using loopholes. If your mobile is receiving such calls, I highly recommend creating a contact (ex. "Blocked") and adding such numbers to it. On an iPhone, open the "Phone" app then select "Recents" at the bottom. Next to each number is an "i" in a circle, click on it and scroll down, then select "Block this Caller". This should create a new contact with just the number (if you haven't already created a "Blocked" caller contact). Name the contact "Blocked" or whatever name you wish, then select the number and change its name by selecting "Create custom name". This will allow you to keep track of each number instead of a long list of numbers without reference. From then on, simply add blocked numbers into that same contact. I cannot speak for other phone platforms (I work for Apple in Marketing in the EU Eastern Districts from Berlin, so I know iPhones/iOS well), but most have this ability.
Hope this helps!
