At 4 pm on Friday 07 October 2011 I received a phone message from a Mr. Johnson who knew my name and identified himself as from the Federal Department of [Law?] Investigation.  It was hard to understand through his thick accent which I could not identify.  He told me to not disregard the call and to call back 386-308-3640 (which is the number he called from) regarding time-sensitive lawsuits and if I didn't, he couldn't help me and wished me good luck as the situation unfolds on me.  Fortunately, I know none of this is true and did not bother returning his call.  I do not know what his motive is.

I received the same yesterday, first they left a message saying it wasa Brian Williams and i needed to have my laywer call him, i waited and then about an hour later the same person calle dback, saying he was a Mr. Brian Johnson. He asked me if i knew such and such a person and when i replied i dodn't he then switched the focus to me saying i had taken a pay day loan from this particular company and i was going to be sued. i kept listening and after about 2 minuets i said this is a scam you are busted and then hung up. A few minuets later he called again and said the following "You said i am a scam, you are a scam you [***], you [***], [***] you and then hung up. I guess he didn't like the fact he got busted.i

The very same thing happened to me.  I told him it was a law that I be sent the information in writing and he said all the information would come after I paid the money.  Fat chance.  He asked me what law.  I told him, You claim to be the lawyer, you should know the law.  I too, laughed at him and kept saying whatever.  I will be waiting.  I am getting sick of these scammers and really want them to stop calling me at work.

"Mr Johnson" tried to track me down at work, but had been calling the main line to the VA hospital I work at instead of my direct line.  The VA police got involved and even had called "Mr Johnson" back and tried to talk with him.  His accent made it difficult to understand - but he did state that he was representing a Hopkins Law Firm and that he was trying to locate me.  During the conversation with one of the VA officers "Mr Johnson" got combative and arguementative and then hung up.  He was never clear on what he really wanted and he refused to give any information, (such as his address) to the police when requested.  As far as I know, it is illegal to call a Federal entity in efforts to spam or harass....and as a "lawyer" in the United States, "Mr. Johnson" would already know that...right?
