I answered my home phone - got a message to call 360-284-4872. he said he was calling from IRS.   I DID call them back.  they asked for my phone # and i gave it to them.  Irs is suing more over taxes.  in 45 minutes an agent will come to my door and arrest me!  ha!  the only thing that is wierd is that they didn't ask me for any money or my social security #.  I asked where he was calling from - Washington DC.  heavy indian accent on both the original call and the person who I spoke w when I called them back.

This person called and I did not pick up because I didn't recognize the number. The voicemail said that the IRS is filing a claim and I should call right away. I am not planning to call the number back.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

This person called and I did not pick up because I didn't recognize the number. i have been recieving a lot of "IRS" calls as well as "There is a problem with your computer" calls.  All have happened within days (even hours) of each other.  All the calls however are coming from different areas of the US.

I also got a call from the same number and did not answer.  My answering machine had the same message as yours about the IRS having a law suit against me.  I understand there is a scam out there.

Same call/message today.  Computer voice stating IRS and a lawsuit.  The real IRS will contact you by mail.  There are lots of scams out there!
