Tom white from IRS demanding I call them before they go to the local police department it was a digital voice

why do they call constantly

I got a call from an  automated male.  Telling me I needed to contact them as soon as possible or they were going to get the local police department involved with the internal revenue investigation department.   At the moment it sounded very convincing but  when I called the number back it was disconnected. A person that I spoke to about this told me it could be  part of a scam
