It's an Indian man calling himself Steven Walker called saying I was awarded a free grant and if I didn't call this other # and give the confirmation # my $6500 grant would go to someone else. I listened and tossed the info, then he called me back the next day. I wrote down the info again to see if I could figure out the scam. I waited until the next day and called the number and he answered instead of whoever else was supposed to. I said is this Steve Walker's #? He said no but asked for my confirmation # and I gave it to him. It was the same guy. He transferred me to an Indian woman who was trying to hide she was laughing when I would ask things like their address and which department they were with. It was hilarious really when she started talking about Washington DC and grants from departments in the government, like I am familiar with the IRS, right? Oh my God, these people think we are all idiots in this country! So I asked for a website, kept asking for the application. They then said I would have to donate $250 of the $6750 grant after being sent the FedEx with my check in it. I asked who pays for the FedEx and I was trying to get to the part where the scam is revealed but I started laughing myself and she got pissed and said it will go to the next person on the list and when I was ready to do it call back. It's just this guy and one woman as far as I can tell. And they give the address when pressed..... 200 Independence Ave. in Seattle WA. And they give the www.grants.gov website pretending to be from the Department of Heath and Human Services but sometimes they mess up and say Resources. Also they claim there are restrictions, you are chosen if you have good credit, pay your bills on time and your property taxes. You aren't allowed to use it for anything illegal like drugs nor can you gamble it. Hilarious! Don't believe any of these stupid calls. They have your name, phone and address and nothing more.
