6/4/15 @ 2:30pm CST- This number came up on my caller ID as "Wireless caller". It, however, sounded like a call center. The rep had a spiel about credit cards and how my paying only minimum payments on my $10k credit card debt was only paying the interest, offering a program where I could pay 0% interest for my lifetime, etc. I asked him to tell me again with whom he was associated. He said "United Service" and then reassured me I didn't have to make any decisions immediately "because that would be foolish", etc. He then told me to ask questions about what wanted to know. I asked what exactly he was promoting. He said debt consolidation. I said we were not interested. He asked why. I told him that I was not interested in sharing any more of my credit and personal information with any more companies. He returned with something to the effect of, "So you just want to keep paying minimum payments and only paying the interest on your $10k [mind you, this amount is not actually accurate] in credit card debt?" in a rather indignant tone. I told him that I do not just pay minimum payments, that I was aware of the high interest on credit cards and... as I continued to speak, I realized he had hung up. Though it seems unlikely, maybe it was just a bad connection with the call center in India (he did have an Indian accent). Seems like a very legitimate operation (dripping-with-sarcasm tone intended).
