Caller with Indain/Pakistani accent told me he was from Microsoft "Technical Maintenance Dept" and that my computer had alerted him with a message that it was infected.  He wanted me to run a series of keyboard commands to "verify the problem", and I played along while looking up all the commands on Google to see what I could find.  As I suspected, it was a scam that has been going on for a few years that would end with him trying to sell me software to fix something that wasn't really broken.

I told him to wait for a moment as I read the numerous blog posts and began laughing... and he's like "why are you laughing?" in that heavy Indian accent, which only made me laugh more. I'll give him a B+ for persistence, but a D for failing to recognize the gig was up.

Actually, the call regisitered on my phone as "Not available. Out of area"  He gave me the phone number 347-349-5357, when I asked or a return number to call.  The blogs mentioned several other numbers.

Told me he was from the nypd and he was looking for an employee. Claiming he just spoke with him and he gave me permission to release his info. I said hold on.....He said i need his social first. I said ok its 777-93-1111. He just hung up lol

Received a call that went to my mailbox. This guy said he was from fraud prevention and to call him before I would face any legal actionS! ...lol. THEY ARE THE ONES COMMITTING THE FRAUD!!!!!
