They called asking for a person that I don't know and a car that I've never owned. they keep calling back.

They called me at work, and just like everyone else they tried to sell an extended warranty. At least I think that's what she was going to try to do, I hung up. It would help if the so called sales person could pronounce the make and model of my car properly.  Tucson is NOT pronounced tuckson...... what a moron !  ;)

Received a call from this number and it went to voicemail. When I went to listen to the message all that was heard was back round noise and then the caller called my name several times. The call ended with that.

I had this same thing happen to me.  I thought the whole thing was fishy from the start so I want to see how it was going to pan out.  Usually when someone calls me for things like this I wait until they ask for more of my information or make me a one time offer. This one was very elaborate.  They kept on switching me to other people within their group.  While on hold for 2 sec with music I got switched over to someone one else like clock work.  I believe I spoke to 5 different people.  They asked me where I got my car, so I told them and they automatically thought I said a different dealer (which sounds like nothing I said) and gave the location of the different dealer.  They started to speak to me about how as long as the dealership as a certified mechanic my extended insurance would cover it.  They went in depth into what the insurance covered and the deductible.  They made me a one time offer and I declined and in return the guy started laughing at me like I was making a stupid decision. We argued about my decision and he was laughing the whole time.  In return I called him out on it and then he hung up.  Since then I spoke with the owner of the dealership where I got the car and threw out the idea of sending out notifications to previous customers about the scam.  He said he will likely do so.  

***I called the number back from this scammer 20 minutes after and it says it has been change or disconnected

they called me.  asked about the letters they had mailed me.  I told them I wasn't sure if the letters were legit and they said that was normal.  red flag.

then I let them do their whole thing.  passing me around to maybe 4 other people in different departments.  after hearing the payment options I told them I couldn't afford any of it.  also, the numbers didn't add up...  red flag 2.  

luckily I was at work and got paged.  I told the woman thank you, but I had to go because I'd the page.  she responded, "whatever" and hung up.  

they are very convincing.  if I had the money, I probably would have been scammed.
