I got a call today (3/8/13) from guy with a thick dialect...maybe Indian...but the number was "unknown."  This was my second call, the other one was yesterday from a woman with a thick dialect.  I gave both of them a really hard time because I knew it was a scam!  I finally told the guy today that I thought this was a scam and would he remove my name from their call list...which he said he would do (yeah! right!).  It really throws them off when you interrupt their "script" to ask questions.  I do this about a minute and hang up.

John: Sorry this happened. It's very annoying. I am going to call our local news investgative reporter here in Houston. She usually does shows like this at least warning people about scams and what not. I am in the process of finding out who else I can get a hold of to report this scam. I am sure the woman on our local news will know who to contact. If so, I will get back with you.

Yeah, I just had a call from this guy too.  He sounded bogus and wasted a few minutes of my time trying to convince me I had some sort of unspecified computer problem.  I didn't trust him and in the end I told him I didn't want his services and hung up on him.

I got the exact same call; first from someone identifying as "Nelson" but shortly later from "Olec" or something.  I was suspicious of the call the first time, but after reading your post I am sure of it.  Don't give him information!
--Interestingly, there was *no* caller ID that showed up on my phone; the 347 number is what he gave to my husband as a contact when he took the first call & message.  I tried it from a different line and got no response.

**Does anyone have advice on who to report this to?**

Thanks!

I just had the same call.  I was working on a boring project and decided to have a little fun with him as a distraction.  First I told him we had a bad connection and made keep him repeating himself.  Then I told him I was still running DOS 2.0.  Then I tried to convince him that I needed Trumpet Winsock configuration settings before I could connect to the internet.  Eventually I got bored and hung up on him.  Back to work.  :-)

I just got a call from someone with an accent calling himself "Ron Wilson" with the same story as above. He said that an error message on my machine had been forwarded to their company and he wanted me to authorize their Microsoft certified tech support person to fix my computer. I was not going to let an unknown person get access to my computer and all the info on it so I asked questions about his company and how his company was connected with me or my computer manufacturer. He gave me the website www.supportonclick.com and this number 800-772-1219 in order to verify his story. The website looks very simple - anyone could create and post it in a an hour or two.  I think we should all report this to Microsoft and the Better Business Bureau.
