I got a call today (3/8/13) from guy with a thick dialect...maybe Indian...but the number was "unknown."  This was my second call, the other one was yesterday from a woman with a thick dialect.  I gave both of them a really hard time because I knew it was a scam!  I finally told the guy today that I thought this was a scam and would he remove my name from their call list...which he said he would do (yeah! right!).  It really throws them off when you interrupt their "script" to ask questions.  I do this about a minute and hang up.

The guy called me!! Was very assertive about what he wanted me to do. I became suspious and he gave me the 1-800-698-9034 number and the 347-289-3770 number. He was a fast talker. I realized he wanted me to give up remote control of my computer so I refused to do it!!

I received a call from Patrick Jones, a man with a very heavy accent, telling me that the last time I downloaded updates to Windows Vista there were corrupt files that could crash my computer.  I went through the steps with him to find the errors and warning marks.  He then wanted me to go online so he could fix them but I only have one phone line.  He insisted that I borrow someones cell phone to call him back at 1-800-698-9034 and then dial 3472893770 to get him directly.  This all seemed a little fishy so I found this web page and read all the comments.  Thank you all for stopping me make a big mistake.

I received a call this evening from a man with an Indian accent. He claimed to me my computer may have a virus in it and he was calling from Windows. He told me I had to follow his instructions so he could see if my computer had been infected with a virus, and that he had to get into it really quick that it could crash at any moment. He explained to me how to get him into my computer so he could control from where he was that he would be able to fix it from where he was. When he called I was online at the moment and my computer wasnt having any problems. Yet he didnt know I was online and was still prompting me to turn my computer on.
I know very little about computers but knew this was very suspicious sense I never gave out my number to Windows. So I asked him how he got my number and asked him for his name he said it was Mondy Smith and number to call him back so I could see if it was legit.
He then told me the number and I was going to call him back, and before hanging up he said something about his supervisor, but I didnt fully understand what he was saying exactly from his accent. So after hanging up the phone rang once again. I answered again because I was expecting a call and no number would come up on called ID and it was another man with a accent saying he was a supervisor and needed to get into my computer to fix it if it had a virus. I then asked him his name and he told me it was Nicholas, he had the same accent as well as the first man. I explained to him that the battery on my phone was dying and I would have to call him back as well and ask for his name and number his number is 347-289-3770.
I called the company I have internet through and explained all this to them and asked if they knew of any such thing and they instructed me that it didnt sound right and asked me if I had done any of what they asked and I explained to him that I suspected it to be not right and didnt proceed with all the directions and hurried off the phone with them.
These guys are very persistent, dont be afraid to ever ask questions and information. Be aware of scams.

Received a call on my cell phone from a number that appeared to be form a relative. (I think they "spoofed the call". When I answered it was an Indian sounding fellow stating that I was having computer problems and he was calling to fix it. I told him I'm not having any computer problems. He said he was good at Windows XP, VISTA etc. I said I don't care because I'm not having computer problems. He said "Well I guess I'll only charge you $15. for this call" I said No.. you will do no such thing. Fortunately he called my cell phone and with Verizon a third party cannot bill using Verizon.
