I received a call this evening from a man with an Indian accent. He claimed to me my computer may have a virus in it and he was calling from Windows. He told me I had to follow his instructions so he could see if my computer had been infected with a virus, and that he had to get into it really quick that it could crash at any moment. He explained to me how to get him into my computer so he could control from where he was that he would be able to fix it from where he was. When he called I was online at the moment and my computer wasnt having any problems. Yet he didnt know I was online and was still prompting me to turn my computer on.
I know very little about computers but knew this was very suspicious sense I never gave out my number to Windows. So I asked him how he got my number and asked him for his name he said it was Mondy Smith and number to call him back so I could see if it was legit.
He then told me the number and I was going to call him back, and before hanging up he said something about his supervisor, but I didnt fully understand what he was saying exactly from his accent. So after hanging up the phone rang once again. I answered again because I was expecting a call and no number would come up on called ID and it was another man with a accent saying he was a supervisor and needed to get into my computer to fix it if it had a virus. I then asked him his name and he told me it was Nicholas, he had the same accent as well as the first man. I explained to him that the battery on my phone was dying and I would have to call him back as well and ask for his name and number his number is 347-289-3770.
I called the company I have internet through and explained all this to them and asked if they knew of any such thing and they instructed me that it didnt sound right and asked me if I had done any of what they asked and I explained to him that I suspected it to be not right and didnt proceed with all the directions and hurried off the phone with them.
