Any ideas?

Boiler room auto warranty scammer.   Offering high priced crappy "extended" car warranties.  Trolling your DMV looking for recent purchasers of cars to scam on.

Auto warranty boiler room operation.    Pretends to be your "warranty processing center" and wants to sell you an extended warranty for your vehicle.

Would not give their actual name or any info as to who they represented.  Phone number is a magic jack type internet phone number used to make it appear that they are local to your area when in fact they are not.

Just a high priced warranty scammer...

Pretty soon we won't be able to answer our phones at all... looked like a local number, so I answered it. I heard a "connection beep" and thought, "Uh oh, this is a telemarketer."  Sure enough, a guy with a foreign accent, with call-center boiler room noises in the background asked to speak to my husband, saying that he needed to speak with him about a "vehicle participation program" or some such thing. Yeah, right.  When I (truthfully) told him my husband couldn't come to the phone, he murmured something about calling again later and I abruptly hung up. Then I blocked the number on my phone (thank goodness for Panasonic phones with this feature!!) There'll probably be more calls from different numbers, but at least this one won't ring through for now.

A man with a weird sounding voice said he was selling wrenches, hammers and laughter with the proceeds going to help three legged dogs in East Asia.  His story broke my heart.  First time I had ever heard of this one, glad he caught me in.
