A few days ago I got a call from this number. Who are these people?

They'll call you pretending to be a relative, then they'll ask you to guess which relative. You can say any random name and they'll say you guessed right. They might already know the city where you live and might say that they're coming to visit. You'll be asked for your cell number. Don't give them any information, not even your first name. Even if they already know your name, deny it and ask them to identify themselves and interrogate them until they hang up (they'll hang up when cornered. It's very easy to corner them). These people are a bunch of scammers trying to trick you into wiring money to them. They tried to scam me today, but failed.

Mom got a call from a lady saying she was her niece and the scary part is that she knew about the family. She said u dont remember me im going to california in a couple days and wanted the address..

Did you or a family use your parents name to recently purchase a car in California? A lady in TX had the same scam, and said that her daughter in California had recently listed her father as a co-signer on a auto loan. Trying to figure out if there's a link..

To clarify my above comment: the link possibly being someone at the car company or the finance company providing information of older people (parents) obtained from auto loan paperwork, as they are more suseptible to scams..
