Got a text message from this number indicating: "It's True! We are giving away iPad2's to the first 1000 mobile user that go to prizesonmobiles.com enter code 8372 to qualify"

This is a scam.  The caller is NOT Apple or Walmart.    Repeat: This is a scam.  Do not respond in any way.  Simply delete the message.  At least some of these messages are directing people to a malicious site.  Do not let curiosity get the best of you.

Please do not post working links to scam web sites.  You can break the links like this:  www.google (dot) com so that no one accidentally winds up on a malicious site.

I got this very same SMS message, only from a different number: 208-201-9608
