I got two calls from this number this morning while I was at work. Each time the caller left a voicemail saying in an Indian accent that I was a prime suspect in some sort of fraud involving the IRS and that he wants to talk to my "lawyer". Joke's on them; I already paid my taxes! So whoever gets a call from this guy, DO NOT answer! Extra kudos to you if you already paid your taxes before the call!

The man that called me also left two messages so I called him back and started asking question.. He says his name is Miguel Henery working for the IRS in Washington DC.. Then I ask to speak to his supervisor, he said what ever you want to say you can say to me.. So I said if you are from the IRS and calling from Washington DC, why is your number from TX? He hung up..

There is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
