I got hit today...said he was a dell representitive, microsoft certified. He knew a little too much or i was to gullible. Said he was calling to follow up on the problem they had currently fixed, . Yes...only drivers...oh and had an indian accent, most dell tech and sales etc is from India, so that was another notch in his favour. He said he wanted to make sure all was working okay, then asked for remote access, windows R and bam i let the [***] on my computer. He showed me something that was very alarming, trojans, critical this and that...then started in that my computer will need to be cleaned with a program that must be purchased from microsoft, which he will get and install and clean everything, as he was a certified microsoft tech as well as dell tech. 375.00 for this program. Now i have Premium Warranty on my Dell, 4 years of everything, even in home service, this is where i started getting pissed off, saying i had to purchase something thats already covered. He kept insisting i only had a one year warranty on my software and it had run out...thats Dells regular warranty. nope, wrong I paid for it. i kept questioning him, the whole time he was in my computer, finally after my yelling and cursing on him for expecting me to pay for a fix to my software thats covered. He said, i will call you back in ten minutes...he hung up, the remote access went off and he was gone...i waited 15 minutes, then decided to call dell and tell them i was waiting for callback, we were disconnected...The Premium support techs took over and told me what happened. It took over 4 hours to clean my computer, but it was the 'real' Dell who had access that time. Fixed it and cleaned it spic and span. Remember Friends, like they told me, Dell or Microsoft Doesnt Call You...You Call Them .. My Question, Should i change all my passwords? Thanks Leonard
