I got a call from these people who claim to be working for a law firm. They said they were wanting to deliver legal documents regarding a claim against me and want to schedule a time at my home to deliver the documents I been calling them but they never call me back.

If they were going to sue your daughter, she would receive a registered letter! Official court documents are delivered this way.

I also got a call from these people who claim to be working for a law firm. They said they were wanting to deliver legal documents regarding a claim against my wife and want to schedule a time at my work to deliver the documents to her (she works in the same place).

When I told them I didn't think it was appropriate to contact her at work, let alone deliver legal documents for some kind of "claim", but they then asked me to just relay the message to her (isn't that also illegal for them to do?) and gave me a case number.

They told me that they would put a "2 hour hold" on their computers so I can relay the message. Right. Sure doesn't sound like anything an actual real law firm would do. Sounds more like a collections agency which is immoral and doesn't care about breaking the law to me.

I received a call, as well as my husband at work (which I didn't think was legal to do), from a Blake Lewis representing himself as a case processor with the legal firm McNulty & Associates. He stated he had papers to serve, as told to my husband at work. I called the number back and spoke with Amanda Jones and began asking her questions to determine the validity. According to her, it's a debt from close to 7 years ago and "we could avoid court by paying a substantially lower amount than the original balance owed and we would never hear from them again". Numerous red flags went up, especially when I asked for something in writing and was told "unable to do that", but if we sent money then she would fax us a letter stating matter resolved. I contacted the Better Business Bureau who is in the process of reviewing this "firm" and I have researched the CA bar with no results matching the phone number given. We are also "on hold" until I contact them with a pre-paid debit/credit card number that they can withdraw funds from. In the meantime, I'm waiting to hear from the BBB. Their scare tactics will undoubtedly work on some people because they are very assertive.
