These are the scammers who are calling people and claiming to be your local power company. They try to get you to pay them or you'll have your power turned off!
No power company would do this.
Keep them on the line as long as you can. Get as much information as you can. And give that information to your local power company.

A TOTAL SCAM. I received a call from this number .... claiming to shut off power, etc... etc... etc..
I called my local power company and their security department is going to investigate these no good rotten scammers!

Tried to get me to send $500. Or would shut off my power to my store.

I received a call from this number this morning claiming my power would get shut off in the afternoon. I was with a customer at the time so I rushed the guy off the phone. I did a quick online search for the phone number and found this site. Thanks to this site I realized it was a scam so I called them back. The call went directly to voicemail so I left my name and number and they called back almost instantly. I played along and asked the guy "how do I prevent my power from being shut off" he stated that I owed $499 and if I would like to pay today he would transfer me to the billing department. He asked if I had any questions before he transferred me. I said "yes, I googled your number and according to several online sources this is a scam" he said "what sources" I proceeded to ask him if this was a scam and he hung up on me. I immediately called my local power company and filed a report.

They called claiming to be my local power company claiming that the service was to be shut off in 1 hour if no payment was made. Searched the number on Google and found fraud reports.
