Am grateful for this post. I had advertised a cell phone for sale. I get this story about the caller texting they would pay $120 extra for shipping to Vancouver (motel), but the area code 323 was for LA.

Some excuse for not being able to complete the transaction in person........

Advertised shoes on kijiji. Get a text from +1 (323) 739-2561. He says he's living in BC, working for Women's Health, and is currently out of the country. Wants me to ship shoes to cousin in Nigeria. He says he will pay $120 for shipping costs via. eTransfer. It's a scam.
