Received a message from the same robotic, foreign sounding person 2 days ago and this morning. It must be a recording because they were both worded and voice inflected in exactly the same way. Claimed to be a "time sensitive" matter and they must hear from me or my attorney of record or they wish me "good luck" with whatever unfolds. Sounds rather threatening to me.
Even though I thought collection agencies were required to provide 800 numbers for call back, I called the number back, a foreign sounding person whoes phone kept breaking up kept telling me they were filing a law suit against me due to a $300.00 unpaid internet payday loan from 3 years ago. I told the guy I had no idea what he was talking about and asked for his company name and mailing address so I could request a debt validation in writing. He said some company name I couldn't understand even after repeating it twice and he refused to give me a mailing address. When I told him it's illegal for him to try and collect money from me and just send it to court without debt validation, he hung up on me. Tells me they really can't do what he said he was going to do.
Long story short...sounds like some off shore scavenger collection agency that bought a debt for pennies on the dollar.
