I'm having a similar experience. They responded to my lost cat posting.
Someone named Tanesha Bryant emailed me "I have found your Cat , some one left it in my backyard. Can you please call me so I can return your Cat, ask for Sherly Bennett or Charles Bennett. 661-945-1968 or 626-372-6555 Contact by phone only"
I tried to call, so emailed back and was given a third number to phone "I had a number change here is my new number 323-455-7824 Sherly and Charles is unavailable ask for Floyd Leftwich"
Of course they gave me excuses as to why they could not send me a photo of the cat.
Thanks for the heads up it is a scam.

We recently lost our dog during a move to OC and I got an email stating they have my dog and that it was left in the backyard and to call  323-455-7824 so they can return our dog.  We were so excited only to find out that these people have been pulling this scam on other people getting up hopes and then getting dashed on the rocks to find they don't have our dog.  I am calling the police and reporting it. The number is in LA
