Got a message from someone name Vanessa around 4:30 p.m. yesterday.  She said she was calling from TransAmerica and on behalf of her manager, with a name something like Stephan Saffi.  All she said was that she wanted to "touch base" on my resume which they found. (Probably on Monster or something)  I didn't apply to them, and she didn't say what position they have open, if any.

I called back this morning, and I got a voice mail where I said to speak my name & press the pound key.  After being on hold a few seconds listening to music, I got a voice mail.

I realized this could be a scam, but it could be legitimate and I'm unemployed.  I should have looked the number up before calling back, but now I won't call back again should they return my call.  It seems from looking up the number on other searches that it is a "pyramid scheme" or some kind of thing like that from TransAmerica.

The Caller ID said "Unknown Name".   Even the one post above is enough of a red flag to anyone.  Legitimate companies with legitimate postions open don't just call people and hang up like that.

Depressing to me that they probably target the unemployed first.

I received a call this morning (on my cell phone) around 10:00a.m. from a woman who said she was calling on behalf of her supervisor at TransAmerica in Encino, CA.  She said they came across my resume and wanted to know if I had already found a job or if I was still looking.  When I said I was still looking, she said they thought I might be right for a position they were trying to fill and asked me to call 323-450-2170 tomorrow between 10:00a.m. and 2:00p.m.  I asked her:  Who should I ask for? What the person's  title is?  And, what is the position I would be calling for?  She was only able to provide the name of her supervisor, Stefan Staffie.  I told her that I would call tomorrow... then decided to google the phone number online and learned it was some kind of pyramid scam.

FYI - about a half an hour later, (while I was writing this message) I received two calls on my cell phone from an unknown caller (silent with no phone number displayed).  I'm not sure if they were related to this caller, but it is something to be aware of.  After reading the listings about this phone number, I am not going to call their number tomorrow. I hope this posting will be helpful to others.

I got a call from this number at exactly 9:41 am. The lady on the phone stated the exact same thing as the person above me stated. This must be a scam.
