I have a post on Craigslist Hartford, CT  offering cleaning services.  I included my phone with the posting.  Got an 8 part text from "Patrick Smith" from the number 657-667-7831 in response to it.  My scenario is basically the exact same as what other people have outline.   We can only assume this is the same person/s.  Of course, I recognized almost immediately it was a check scam attempt and provided no further personal information.    I did post on whitepages.com to flag the number as a scam attempt.   For a little personal satisfaction, I am acting as if I am interested and sending various mundane and benign text messages to Patrick Smith.    Hopefully I can waste as much of this persons time as possible.   Beware of this number   657-667-7831.

This is an email phisher trying to get you to reply "text only" about your resume posting to bypass the annonymizing email utility on Craigslist....dont fail for it

Don't fall for this.  Got the same number requesting a text.  Craigslist has some shady people.

Looking for work.  Have a Position Wanted ad on CL-NY.

Received an e-mail from a Patrick Smith at ieuisjkwoik2190@gmail.com asking me, "How are you doing today? I will like to know if you are still looking for work? text me for more details....323) 364-2127"

Called the number instead of texting.  Got an outgoing voice mail Greeting identifying herself as "Sara" and that she's unavailable.

Clearly a SCAM

Based on my experience gmail is the preferred e-mail provider of SWINDLERS and SCAMMMERS because gmail hides the Sender's IP address, does not adequately police their accounts for fraud and makes it too difficult and too time consuming to report actual fraud to them

Scam Craigslist email for our vacation rental asking me to text (323) 364-2127. Don't contact them!

They are still at it a year later with same scam. I have a CL vaction rental in NJ. Thanks for the heads up all.
