I just got a call from Simon Echler and Associates and they were completely unprofessional and claimed I owed them money. They called my family as well. The first number they called from was 312-651-6378. The guy got really rude and when I told him to stop calling me he put me on hold to give me time to think and then said he won't remove my numbers and will just keep calling. When I asked to speak to his boss he said "I am the director."
Then this company called again from 323-302-4864 and another seemingly nice fellow but when I refused to give my name and told them to remove my number he said he would and then got really nasty by saying I owed them money and that the calls would keep coming. I told him that if this is indeed a legitimate call about a debt that I know my rights under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and the guy (his name was Frank and wouldn't give his last name) said I didn't have any rights, was incorrect and then insisted on giving me information if I didn't believe him to check it out for myself. When I told him I have no idea what he was talking about regarding any debt he said I should just man up and tell the truth. Never mind if whether or not that I could even be a guy.
These guys calling themselves Simon Echler and Associates are very threatening and intimidating. They claim they sent a letter to me but I never got one. Then they said they'll send me one via email and I told them that if they were real they'd send me an official letter via regular mail per the FDCPA. They said that contacting via email is legal and it was passed by President Clinton.
Overall, don't give these people any information no matter what they say or do. I intend on filing a complaint with the FTC and contacting an attorney as well.
