I just received the same call stating my account was locked

I received a phone call from this number.  They claim to be representing Nelnet loan financing saying that I needed to call and get things cleared up.  I have also received several e-mails from them requesting personal information.  I contacted Nelnet and asked what was up, they didn't have any of my information in their system.  THIS IS A SCAM!!! Do not give them any information over the phone.  The e-mails were from "Amanda Weaver" with nelnet.

I received the call at 9 p.m. Said that my account was locked so I hung up. I couldn't think of any accounts that would be locked on me so I figured I would check the number out.

I received a call from this number at 5:56 am. Fortunately, I had my call blocking on and the call didn't come through. A message was left on my voicemail which was about 10 seconds long and it was a faint beepy sound like a computer. I immediately went online and confirmed with other posts found here that this was a scam. Obviously, the calls must be coming from a different time zone due to the hours of calls...probably hoping that some poor soul would be disoriented enough after having been woken up to give out personal information. As other posts have stated, NEVER give out personal information over the phone unless you initiated the call and are 100% sure you know who you're calling.
