I received several calls from someone claiming to be the "head technical department of Windows OS" to the effect that they received information that my computer had downloaded malware etc. and offered to help me clean this up. The first several times, I said that I'm not going along with this and hung up. Its a Scam.

Your computer has reached out to me, is the message that I received.  This person cl;aims to represent "Microsoft", is this real?

No! Its a scam! Non of these shysters have anyway of knowing what goes on with your computer. It is a scam to get access to your computer, then scam you for money for something that is non existant. Real company's like Microsoft do *not* cold call you with this kind of thing.  If you do incur a real problem, take it to a real live tech or follow your computer company's contact information.
