Yes....definitely IRS imposter scam.  Doubtful this phone number can be traced?  Encourage everyone to purchase portable boat air horn and call these [***] frequently and ask that they speak up and then blast the horn into your phone.  [***] them up..!!

A  man with a foreign accent saying he was calling me from the IRS concerning taxes I owe told him to get lost.  Isnt there anything that can stop this kind of robbery.

Actually, i was very impressed with all the details he provided--his name, his id number, the case number, the amount of the fine  (&75,000), etc.  Of course, he gave all information to me but thought he was talking to a woman.  He had asked for verification of my name, but i would not give it to him--but he did have the address right.  My voice sounded like a woman's--my tenor voice.  However, when i told him i was going to turn myself in--to the local police department.  He told me not to hang up--but to take the phione with me.  I told him that was impossible.  I was on a land line.  He hung up me--before i could promise to pay whatever he wanted.  Too funny really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About all you can do is invest in a call blocker and also do not pick up on numbers you do not recognize.  These are hard core Indian or Pakistani scammer/extortionists and as such beyond the reach of US law.
