My husband received a call from Darlene Weber @ the law firm of Bryant Bryant and Associates today. He joyfully gave my cell phone number to this stranger who in turn called my cell phone three times in a matter of 15 minutes. On the third call, I picked up. This person identified herself as Darlene Weber with the law offices of Bryant Bryant and Associates (no such law firm, looked it up). She said I owed for a payday loan from 2010 from Ace Cash Express. I refused to verify any information with her but did tell her that she definitely had the wrong information. She took this as I was not the person she was trying to contact. That wasn't it, actually the information she had was incorrect. I had taken out a payday loan in 2007 with Ace Cash Express, the balance of which was included in my bankruptcy in 2008. Uh-oh, someone bought a junk debt. I did not explain any of this to her, just hung up the phone. I have been harrassed continuously over payday loans that I have included in a bankruptcy, now five years old AND harrassed over payday loans that I paid to other companies. Even if you have proof that you have paid the loans off to other companies, the company calling and trying to collect does not care. The best solution is to not answer the phone and not to give out or confirm any information someone has on you. Now I will have to endure weeks of harrassing phone calls from this "new" company. Yay :/
