Federal grant giving away $7000

Received a call from this number stating that they were part of the US Federal Government and they were going to give me a grant for $7,000...is this a scam? They stated I would have to provide a security deposit of $240, that would be refunded to me, to be able to receive the $7,000...am quite confused...

My name is Marvin Lambert I got a call stating this was the federal government and I was to receive a grant for 7000.00 dollars. I had to send 240.00 in good faith and I would be reinbursted . I sent the money I also have a money gram receipt for the 240.00 dollars was this a scam. 602-575-7487 My telephone number. Please respond!!!!

A man with a strong accent I could not understand claimed to be with the US Gov. And that I was randomly selected because I wasn't a criminal and didn't receive government assistant, ( I actually do lol) anyway, he repeated that I should call this number to speak with an account with the treasurer, I have not done so...

Called from an auburn Washington number 253 218- 1545
