who are these people calling me at my number and why?

I have no idea who this is because every time that they call, the answering machine picks up and the caller does not leave a message.  I wish that this caller would either state his or her business on my answering machine or better, simply stop calling.  That the caller does not leave a message and continues to call adds insult to annoyance.

Caller said she had a survey about parental ratings on television shows.  At the end she asked me to press 9 to "electronically sign" the petition.  When I asked her what organization she is with, is she said goodbye

So they just called and asked for the Ms. I told the lady she had the wrong number then she very smugly stated "well just so you know I am calling for Corporations for character sorry" then she hung up...weird...we looked up the company and it seems to be a charity organization or something....

Lady called and asked for my husband.  I asked who she was and she hung up.  Can't call the number back.
