This guy was definitely not local (or anywhere close to it) considering I told him my name was Jack Meoff (get it  "jack me off") and he obviously did not pick up on it. The next guy got on and I told him my name was Mike Hunt (get it) and he didnt pick up that one either.

Just got a call from Achmed the [***] in India who tried to confirm my business information. I don't own a business. This dumb [***] Slumdog should go back to taking incoming calls and watching Millionnaire.

Ok - I got the call - could tell this was bogus - they were confirming address information which they already had - harmless, right? I finally hung up - now I have a letter in hand that says they can bill my local telephone company $39.95/month? They can't do that without authorization, right? Of course they give an 800 number to cancel and it puts you into an endless loop of "please hold." What is the point of all of this - if they have no financial info from you they don't have anything, right?

Some telemarketer called claiming to be updating free online listing. My office staff called me in to listen to the call to make sure we were not being billed. Sure enough I get a notice in the mail today from "Your Local Services Online, LLC" claiming they would begin billing us $39.95/month through our telephone company. I called the number on the notice 1800 511-0812 and they said they are not responsible for their marketing department and said they would cancel it. We'll see. Whenever someone calls now to verify our company info, I'm not giving it out unless they're from Google.
