I would have asked the caller, "Which government?"

Called today at 12:29 PM saying that he is a representative of Microsoft and my computer is currently being hacked.  I told him I know the scam and to take my number off the list.  He rudely told me to not hang up because the government is trying to find out who is hacking and I can help them by lettin him have access to my computer.  I hung up.  I filed a complaint with the FCC at https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us.  Also visit https://blogs.microsoft.com/cybertrust/2014/0 ... oft-phone-scam/.

Hopefully the more these calls get reported maybe it will get someone's attention.  This stupid scamm has gone on for years.  Can't beleive it had not been stopped by now.  Losers.

I've just received a call from this number claiming to be Windows tech support, however I have recently read about and have watched videos on youtube pertaining to them being scammers.

MICROSOFT WILL ***NOT*** contact you for any reason, whether your computer is dead, hacked, or virus-infested. THEY WILL NOT CONTACT YOU.

This is a SCAM.

The person I spoke to had an arabic/indian accent and said: "Hello I am Kevin with Windows tech support, and (basically) you are being hacked."

I told him that I was aware of his scam and hung up.

They will connect to your computer (if you allow them), steal personal information, and then charge you -300$- to "FIX" your computer.

I recommend hanging up immediately.

the reason these [***] can circumvent the DO NOT CALL LIST is because they make their calls through software like Skype or something similar. This way they can make international calls dirt cheap and you'll never know where the call originated from. Another thing thing too. If you are having legitimate computer problems and you look it up on the internet, If you see an offer to fix your computer and they claim to be LICENSED by Microsoft or whatever, not only are they going to charge you and arm and a leg to fix your computer, they're going to plant some malware. and charge you a fortune to remove it. And worse yet. they are the only ones who can remove it. That's another lesson I learned the hard way.
