Received a call from this phone number to my home, asking for an old roommate of mine. My home number is in no way - and never has been - associated with this old roommate.

How on earth did this person get my home number get associated with someone I lived with nearly 10 years ago in a totally different city, when I had a different last name???

Same number called me and asked me if i was expecting a payment from insurance company or a law suit.

Suspected fraud

Received a call asking for a girl I do not know. When I told him he had the wrong number, he proceeded to tell me she has money from an annunity that was due her and did I have a better number for her.  How would I have a number for someone I don't know and why do I care about someone's annunity??  Don't know what the scam is, but I'm sure there is one.

Calling and asking for someone and saying they are due money in some way is a common tactic of skip tracers.  These are collectors who attempt to locate people who seem to have disappeared.  They will call anyone with the same name, relatives, previous addresses, possible aliases, etc.  The rouse of telling them they are due money will often times get people to admit where the person is or how to find them.

They called me asking for someone I haven't seen in 11 years.  Left message saying that this person was due money back from an annuity.  Yeah right.

It is a scam not to steal your identity, but to trick you into revealing where the person they are calling for is at.

i also recieved this call... but strangely, it came to my womans' moms' house. we are not married, nor have i ever used her moms name or address for anything in the past... but they called her mom, and asked for me. said that i have some money coming to me from something... i was kind of hesitant to call on my own phone, so i googled the number... and i found all of you here with this same number but different stories... sounds like a scam, maybe some old bill collectors trying to get their money? who knows!!! i dont have any bills...
