I have received many calls from this number. The first was over 6 months ago. When I answered, it took a moment for them to be connected with me (auto-dialing system) and they explained that they were trying to verify if someone would be present to accept legal paperwork from the Sheriff's Department Process Server on behalf of some gal whose name I can't remember. When I explained that I had no idea who that gal was, they noted it on her account and I never heard from them again. About 4 months ago, I got the same call from them for someone else that I had never heard of (not unusual because my number is frequently used by people as a false contact number for some reason) and again, when I explained that I did not know the person, they noted it and I never heard from them in regards to that case again.
Yesterday morning I received the same call asking for a Gregory Dale. The man who was calling was very informative in explaining to me that my number was given as this man's primary contact number in connection with a court case. He noted it on the account and I was told that it would take about 24 hours for the computer to process it and take my number off his account. Two hours later, I got another call, and then five minutes after that I got a third call. When talking to the person the third time, they told me to ignore the calls for the next 24 hours and they would stop, since it was noted in the computer already.
Here it is 30 hours after the last call, and I just got another one. I answered ready to chew them out for refusing to take my number, which I had notified them yesterday is a cell phone number on the Do Not Call Registry, off of their system as they had claimed. Unlike the representatives of the company that I have dealt with prior to this, the gal asked for Gregory Dale and when I explained that I had no idea who he is, she hung up on me without further word or apology.
I hope they call me again tonight because I am ready to chew someone a new something. At this point I am fed up with it. Having worked in the legal system, I completely understand that they have to use the phone number that they are given by someone on legal documents, and they cannot completely block my number from calls on future cases because it might be a valid contact point for that case, but the fact that my private number is not being removed when they claimed that they would really perturbs me.
Also, the fact that three different cases have supposedly put my number down as the main contact point and then those cases have come through this company really doesn't seem statistically plausible at this point. I have had my number for 3 years, and while it could have belonged to someone else prior to that, again, the statistical probability is slim.
If they call again and I get the company name, I will definitely be sharing that info.
