another local political phone call. this one (today Oct 27, 2008) was a pre-recorded election pitch BY "State Representative Suzie Bassie" FOR the "Matt Murphy for State Senate" campaign. i don't know why the politicians should be able to vote to exempt themselves from the process of annyoning unwanted phone calls. WE (the people they represent!) certainly didn't ask for their exemption to the "DoNotCall.GOV" list, but they certainly don't care about what WE the citizens want. we want unwanted phone calls (of ALL KINDS) to be blocked/blockable/illegal if WE don't want them. obviously "THEY" want them (whomever they may be - business, charity, politician, criminal, etc). we citizens need to band together and vote to change our entire political process. we need to change our legislative voting system, so those who are "representing US" vote (on record) for or against each item/law/issue SEPARATELY. they shouldn't be allowed to add unwanted spending negotiations onto unrelated issues. our recent trillion dollar bailout bill is just another example of how ridiculous this process has become, at OUR expense, and it needs to stop! it needs to become about each issue SEPARATELY! if there aren't enough votes to pass each bill/issue independently, then it shouldn't pass because it isn't what the majority of the people want. period. and then the politicians would be held accountable to their local voters by each and every issue they voted on and why - and would put an end to payoffs and corrupt voting (which is exactly why they don't want it this way). every time we get a political call, we the people should find a way to unite and send a message - that we want all unsolicited phone calls to stop. every call should have an accurate and honest name attached to it, letting each recipient know exactly who is calling them. anyone that is found to be hiding their identity or changing it, and calling numerous people for some sort of gain, should be fined and put in jail to think about it. not only the peron making the calls, but the managers and owners of the company too. make everyone in the chain along the process accountable. that would deter the decisions from being made in the first place by owners/managers, but they would have a hard time finding employees to make the phone calls or recordings. i'm so tired of everyone that isn't honest in this country, feeding off of those who are honest. it has to stop. and this is just one little version of the same calls made by scammers/crooks. politicians should be limited to advertising by mass media - billboards, mail, radio, tv, and internet. they are not welcomed in my home unannounced and uninvited, which is exactly what these phone calls are like. we can't control who calls us, unless we have laws that make people accountable for breaching the privacy of our own homes on a mass scale (with phone call campaigns), and technology that is implemented and used to hold them accountable. charities and politicians are no exception IMHO. they are just selling something THEY deem more important than any other business.
