called my cell phone, didn't answer, didn't leave a message, called back from land line many times, just a busy signal. getting more spam calls since I put number on do not call registry...

Called and answered, responded 'Hello' several times as there was someone there moving but no response.  Hung up.  Will block number from future calls.

The reason you are getting more calls since you added your number to the DNC registry is because EVERYONE is getting more calls now!

Also keep in mind that there is no reason to put cellphone numbers on the registry as it is already illegal for telemarketers to call cellphones.  That's because cellphone users have to pay for incoming calls (whereas landline users don't).

Some people mistakenly believe that the DNC publishes lists of phone numbers and distributes them to telemarketers telling them not to call those numbers.  That's not the way it works.

Instead, telemarketers submit their own lists of numbers to the FCC and those lists are scrubbed of numbers on the registry. So if a scammer already has your number, why would they bother to 1) submit their list to the FCC and 2) risk identifying themselves as telemarketers (they have to provide proof of identity)?

Second, NEVER call back!  If the caller is legitimate, they will leave a message.

All you are doing by calling back even from a different number is giving them that number to call too.

These scammers often spoof the caller ID so that if you call the number back, you may be reaching a disconnected line or maybe the phone number of some innocent person or organization. The scammers may originate their calls outside of the country (and outside of US jurisdiction) and route their calls via the internet.

Received two calls on a cellphone, while answering the first a second one came in from this number on call waiting.

Said hello a couple of times and there was no response.

Now blocked.
