caller looking for owner of company, even mentioned names of business associates, said he was from BG&H did not explain who, what or why but I looked them up online and it was a (magazine publisher), the number on website is not the same # this guy named Chris gave me, which was 312-256-8467

A type of pyramid marketing where YOU, as the first contact, get a "free" advertorial article written about your firm in an unknown magazine... but after you provide business contacts. YOUR name is then used to market ads, etc., to the contact list you have provided. Additionally, YOU will receive additional phone calls asking if you want to include ads along with your advertorial in the vanity magazines.

Read the list of magazines published by BG&H... Have you ever heard of them before? Really? Or do they just sound pretty close to other magazines you may have read... Before you would advertise in any media (newspaper, magazine, website, etc), one question should be about circulation (issues, readers, hits). Another should be about how you verify circulation. These Direct Request and Controlled Circulation publications seldom use Audit Bureaus to verify the actual circulation numbers. They also do not typically have circulation numbers high enough to justify ad rates charged.
