My girlfriend has been receiving calls from this number: 310-555-58413 for a couple of weeks now. The phone however is buried in her purse in it’s own zippered bag, so calls always go to message before she can answer it. When she calls it back she gets a recording, “Can’t complete the number as dialed...”.
When she brought it to my attention I noticed 2 unusual things: 1) there are too many digits, and 2) the 555- prefix doesn’t exist anywhere; it’s only used for TV shows and movies. Jack’s comment indicated that it might be originating in the Netherlands (country code 31, and you leave off the 0 when dialing from overseas). It was still 1 digit short for that, but I reasoned it might be a small town with less than 100 phones so I dialed it, but it wouldn’t go through.
Then I took the phone and when that number called I answered it. If it had been a telemarketer it would have connected with a live person trying to sell me something, but it didn’t. Instead it flashed a download into the phone! After that I rebooted it and put the number on auto-reject. The next call that came in was: 310-555-98720. Same scenario. Auto-reject again and now it’s: 310-555-65189. At this point I think we can only change the number.
Anybody know what’s going on?
