Two new tactics I've noticed these scammers have adopted over the the past couple years:
1. Using a spoofed number with an area code that's the same as mine. I suppose the thinking there is that I'm more likely to answer if it appears to be local.
2. Rarely using the same spoofed number more than once. This is clearly an attempt to defeat call blocking.
My favorite though, is spoofing my own number. Playing on my curiosity, eh? Not happening.

Well this telemarketer or scammer took all the fun out of it for me.   They hung up as soon as I said hello.   I saw a feature on my local news and it really works!   I was getting so many calls from "windows" and Microsoft"!   I used this trick and they haven't called me back in two weeks.   I answered the phone and I asked him some very polite questions.   "What is your name?"    Where are you located?    I even told him that I knew that Microsoft works with several different companies and could he please give me the name of the company he works for.   He actually gave me an answer.   I asked a few more questions and then I told him that I knew he was a scammer.   I told him that the next person who calls me,  I will keep on the phone even longer.  :I will be wasting as much time talking to them as I possibly can!"

People,

There are NO US or Canadian phone numbers in ANY area code having a 0 or a 1 as the digit after the area code.  NONE AT ALL.

I absolutely GUARANTEE you that any attempt to call back ANY such number will NEVER successfully reach a working number in the United States or Canada, regardless of having an area code you look up and think is valid.  ALL of these numbers are spoofed.

Received call--person hung up when I answered.

Selling home security- Being on the do-not-call list since 2003 they can't legally call me. So, when I tell Johnathan what he can do with a male camel along with a few other insults he has no legal complaint. Next I call blocked him.
