This number called, didn't say anything and when I called it back it said it was out of service.

When I answered the phone, no one replied. The call came in again, in a matter of minutes, but still no one replied.

Got a call from this number- they left a "message", sort of. Sounded like someone moaning. When I called it back, got a "this number is not in service" recording.
