I received a call from this number. Actually, my mother received it first and she called me to let me know that a man named Thomas Curran (supposedly handling check fraud) was calling stating that I had defaulted on a payday loan years ago, that my name was being given to the state attorney's office, and if I didn't pay $1,758.00 by credit card within 10 minutes, a warrant was going to be issued for my arrest. I called my mother back, told her what was said, etc. I was also able to get the most recent copy of my credit report from freescore.com, and this "defaulted loan" was nowhere on my credit report. My mother told me it sounded like a scam. I called that phone number back and the voicemail announcement said "You have reached Thomas Curran, I'm handling check fraud. Please leave your name, number, etc." He claimed to be representing a law firm, yet there was no name of a firm on the caller ID; supposedly the firm was nationwide and he was a member of a 3 attorney firm;( if there are 3 attorneys in your firm, why don't you have a receptionist answering your phone?). This man had me scared for my life and thinking I was going to jail. I want this man stopped! I have already contacted a law firm that gives free legal advice about debt collection abuse, and I've sent an e-mail to the attorney general's office here in CT. But I want this man arrested!
