Claims that are family member of yours is in trouble and ask you for their name to confirm that they are real person

Person is a fraudster claiming they have a family member of yours and requesting ransom money from you. This is a serious offense and the police have been called.

They called me to tell me my husband was in a car accident and that he started fighting and was kidnapped. They demanded 2k and wanted me to send it western union. When I asked for a sign that in fact it was my husband and what color shoes he was wearing, he said ok I will shot a bullet in his head. My sister had called the police as soon as they called me. They told me it was a scam. I hung up and the police showed up and filed a report.

Same as above called claiming my dad had been kidnapped unfortunately I sent the money only to find it was a scam!!  Be aware

It is wise to block, or not answer ALL calls from the 305 area code-- the code of scammers!
