I never talk to them (why pick up the phone if Caller ID is information-free?), but suspect them to some form of collections agency, as I get quite a few calls from "301-861-etc.etc.etc." . . .

How often do you see an underline and all-caps text in Caller ID readouts?

Looking for a George Davis when I said nobody by that name lives the caller pushed for info about who I was and names and SS# of who lived here I call back and got them to admit that it was a privet mater" and it was using a phone relay system out of L.A. Calf.

This number -301-86180101, is one of many ringing our phone off the hook all day...sadly, it's to where we use our cell phone for 'real' calls and the home phone as a telemarketer, bill collector, scammer- Screening System...as for the answering machine, it seems like only the Real bill collectors actually do/are willing to  leave a message...for the most part.  As for this number here, we answered it once and although they knew our name, we still denied it because they wouldn't give us any info;  They ask for so-so, I say "sorry, that person don't live here but I may know how to get hold of them if you would like to leave your contact info'  If they say no or become mean and demanding, then I hang up and when they call back I threaten to turn them in and sue...It stops the calls for a day or two...I don't know of anything, except to finally have some severe and strict actions from both the government and the phone companies to stop this type of harassment once and for all!
