At 3:50 am I received this text message, and I haven't even had my new number for a week:

30 users have won a new Ipad 2, Enter YOUR unique claim code 2850 at http://phone-rewards.com to be validated, and have it sent.

Its a scam.  No one is going to give you an Ipad2.  I don't know what they will get out of it, but you will come out behind.

There's no such thing as a new phone number.  Your phone number was used by someone else as recently as 3 weeks before you got it.  Any wrong numbers you get are probably aiming for the previous owner of the number.
