They have called my cell phone several times over the past week or so and leave no message. I do not recognize the number so I never answer it.

256812 has called me several times and when I answered it's dead air, no hanging up, no static, nothing. Who is it and how are they calling from a 6 digit number???

It's one of the many benefits of spoofing calls. Don't answer it in any way. Doesn't appear there's much info provided on who the caller is other than being rotten. If it were halfway believable, the number would look somewhat better.

Justin Case (I love that name) is right. Its a scammer using a spoofed number. He hopes the odd-looking number will make you curious and you'll answer the phone so he can scam you. Or he may be making a list of numbers that answer calls from unknown or odd-looking numbers. He can then sell that list to other scammers.
