Its a scam.  Calling for donations is a relatively expensive way of raising funds.  Even a legitimate charity, the telemarketing firm keeps about 70% of every donation to cover fund raising costs.  For charities claiming to support the police or fire department the numbers are much worse with the firm making the call keeping up to 97% of every donation.

Claimed to be Alabama State Troopers. Did not give him enough time to ask for money but am 99% certain that was next on his script. The call said out of area despite the fact 256 is my area so most likely originated from a call center.

Call from Alabama State Trooper Association wanting a donation. The troopers doesnt see a penny of this donated money. Do Not Donate.
