i just received this call some asian women said that i am one of 35000 people in the u.s.a that has been selected to receive 9000 dollar govt grant , and that can be automatically deposited in my bank or western union in cash to call this # 253-336-6158 and ask for kathy and they called with a 518 # 223-0021 and asked me for correct spelling of my name and gave me a confirmation #

I too received a call from this number claiming to be from the IRS. The IRS does NOT call you, so it is a scam.

Got a message from this number claiming to be from the IRS - that they had been trying to contact us and this was their final notice that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against us. The number the message said to call: 253-336-6158, did not match the caller ID info: Name Unvailable 865-093-8244 (Tried a search an no info. comes up for that number.)

There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
